Spotted: Mason Jar Planters

How precious are these mason jar planters from Not Just a Housewife? She mounted the jars onto reclaimed wood using hose clamps, then filled them up with potting soil and planted herbs in a sunny hallway! In her tutorial, she says she used new mason jars, but I bet that this would work with eclectic glassware from the thrift store, too! Or, you can start saving jars as you use them up in the kitchen.

The only change I’d make to the design is to fill the bottom 1/4 to 1/3 of the way with rocks, to give the plants some drainage. After drowning a perfectly healthy oregano plant this summer, I’ve learned my lesson!
